The SPSM is a power switch that monitors network power. When power levels drop or fail completely, the SPSM automatically switches to an alternative power source.
An alternative power source can be another 60 or 90 VAC power supply, standby or non-standby, fixed or portable generators, or another AC power source.
The SPSM was designed to work with any PathTrak-like monitoring system, or with the SPSM monitoring chip which is sold separately. In addition, if you have an existing power monitoring system, it will continue to function because the SPSM will not affect its operation.
The SPSM is not in the RF network and therefore has no impact on network performance. A dual power inserter/combiner replaces the existing power inserter/combiner. The dual unit has the same insertion loss as the original unit and therefore has no impact on network performance.
The SPSM is maintenance free. Once installed, it continues to operate while automatically switching when it senses loss of power in the network. Once power is restored to the network, it automatically returns to its normal monitoring mode.
The SPSM comes in an outdoor network splitter housing that uses standard CATV 5/8" x 24 threads which works with normal CATV coaxial connectors. An experienced technician or splicer can easily install the SPSM.
